Matt Evers has revealed there is one issue being in Dancing On Ice’s first same-sex couple – their private parts get in the way.

The professional is taking to the ice with Ian ‘H’ Watkins from Steps in the new series of the ITV programme.

The pair are currently hard at work on their skills and Evers admitted there has been one problem.

The Sun quoted him as saying: “Parts of his anatomy get in the way in certain moves, on some of the lifts.”

He added: “We’re having to alter the lifts because it’s never been done before.”

Evers said the pair are trying to “make it normal” and will see how viewers respond before adding too much intimacy to their routines.

“If the audience and fans embrace it, we’re going to push it a bit more,” he said.

It was confirmed earlier this year that Watkins and Evers would be the show’s first same sex pairing. Speaking on White Wine Question Time today, Evers told Kate Thornton he “cried” when ITV called him to tell him the news.

The singer has said he does not want to be treated any differently to a traditional couple on the programme.

Watkins will be joined on the 2020 edition of Dancing On Ice by celebrities including businesswoman Caprice Bourret, TV presenter Trisha Goddard, magician Ben Hanlin, former professional footballer Kevin Kilbane and newsreader Lucrezia Millarini.

Michael Barrymore was set to make his career comeback on the skating show but has had to pull out after injuring his left wrist in a fall during training.

He said: “Took a nasty fall on the ice last Friday during rehearsals and sadly broke my left wrist.

“Absolutely devastated to hear that I can’t go on back on the ice for a while.”

The series returns to ITV in January, with John Barrowman, Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean and Ashley Banjo on the judging panel.
